#3 Lady Eagles sweep rival Bloomsburg on Senior Day, LHU downs #16 BU 7-0 & 2-1 to claim PSAC Central regular season title
 

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The No. 3 Lock Haven University softball team (38-5, 15-1 PSAC Central) swept local-rival and 16th ranked Bloomsburg University (29-7, 13-3 PSAC Central) today in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Central action.

The Lady Eagles won 7-0 and 2-1.

It was a special day for The Haven softball program, as the doubleheader sweep led LHU to the PSAC Central Division regular season crown. The wins also came on Senior Day for Lock Haven, as the Lady Eagles took time to honor a special group of athletes.

Lock Haven took down visiting-Bloomsburg 7-0 game one.

The Haven’s seven runs came off eights and LHU got solid pitching from senior-ace Kristin Erb (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township).

Erb went the distance and the held the Bloom bats to only six hits. She allowed only one batter to reach on balls and struck out eight on the way to the victory.

Erb, one of eight LHU seniors honored between games helped her own cause and went 2-for-4 with a team-high three RBIs.

Senior Ilia Lopez (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg) went 2-for-4 with two RBIs to help Lock Haven’s offensive effort.

Game two proved to be another LHU-Bloomsburg thriller.

Lock Haven came out on the winning end once again and capped off a 15-1 run in PSAC Central play, clinching both the regular season title and a No. 1 seed heading into the post season.

Erb had it going again in game two and recorded seven strikeouts. She gave up just seven hits and walked only a trio.

LHU picked up its two runs on seven hits.

Lopez led the way with a 2-for-4 outing.

LHU went up 1-0 in the bottom of the third after senior Erica Eisenbise (Wernersville, Pa./Wilson) drove in Lopez.

Lock Haven tacked on the eventual game-winning run in the top of the sixth when Lopez singled to left field, driving in Amanda Gutmaker (Huntingdon Valley, Pa./Northeast).

Lock Haven returns to action on Friday and Saturday, April 24-25 at home when the Lady Eagles play host to PSAC Championship First Round action.
