LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The No. 3 Lock Haven University lacrosse team has been nothing short of sensational thus far this season and the Lady Eagles have been rewarded for their efforts, as six different players earned All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West honors, while LHU also took home all three major PSAC West Awards.
The Haven swept all three awards, as Junior Leigh Titus (Towaco, N.J./Montville) was named PSAC West Athlete of the Year and Kayleigh Johnson (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) was named PSAC West Freshman of the Year.
LHU head coach Kristen Selvage completed the sweep and was named PSAC West Coach of the Year after guiding the Lady Eagles to the PSAC West regular season title and the PSAC Championship, Lock Haven’s first since 1981. Lock Haven is currently 16-3 overall and is ranked No. 3 nationally.
Titus, a PSAC West First Teamer is joined on the First Team by Johnson and defender Kathleen Zichelli (South Orange, N.J./Columbia).
The trio of Amber Hoch (Souderton, Pa./Souderton), Allison Berger (Oreland, Pa./Springfield – Delco) and Jamie Uzialko (Lima, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima) all earned a spot on the PSAC West Second Team.
Titus, the PSAC Championship MVP has been tremendous for LHU. She has 92 points, second best on the team. She’s scored a team-high 64 goals and has added 28 assists.
Johnson has been sensational thus far in her rookie campaign and leads the team in total points with 93. She’s netted 61 goals and dished out a team-best 32 assists.
Zichelli, a sophomore is The Haven’s field general and anchors the defensive effort. She’s recorded a team-high 87 groundballs and caused a team-high 40 turnovers. Zichelli’s also has 34 draw controls and has chipped in with a pair of goals. Her 87 groundballs are a conference-best mark.
Hoch, Lock Haven’s lone senior has been a key component in LHU’s midfield play. She has 59 goals on the year and leads the team with seven game-winning tallies. She also had 22 assists and a team-best 46 draw controls.
Uzailko, a sophomore picked up right where she left off during her rookie season. She has 41 points on the year, including 29 goals and 12 assists.
Berger, also sophomore has been very solid up front for Lock Haven and is chipping with 39 total points. She has 34 goals and five assists.
The Lady Eagles await the NCAA Division II Lacrosse Championship selection, which will come on Sunday evening (May 3). Three teams from each region will be selected to take part in the D-II lax tournament. The No. 1 seeds from each region receive a bye into the national semifinals in Salem, Va. The No. 2 seeds will host the No. 3 seeds within their regions in the first round on May 9.
