SALEM, Va. – Senior Kristin Erb (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) of the No. 2 Lock Haven University softball team has been named National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II First Team All-American.
The 2009 All-American team was announced tonight in Salem, Va. at the 2009 NCAA Championship pre-tournament banquet.
This is the fourth straight year in which Erb has earned First Team All-American honors.
Erb, the Lady Eagles ace is an impressive 45-4 in the pitching circle heading into the 2009 NCAA Division II Softball National Championship tournament.
Erb has pitched a total of 317 innings and has struck out 351 batters.
Her 0.44 ERA leads the nation and the opposition is hitting a dismal .154 against her.
Erb has allowed only 24 walks all year.
On the year, Erb has three perfect-games and six no-hitters.
Erb’s career ERA is an unthinkable 0.38. Over four seasons, she has seven perfect-games and 13 no-hitters to date.
Erb, already the all-time leader in wins, is just one shutout away from tying the all-time D-II record in that category. She has 96 to date and could tie Kathy Slaten’s (Cal St. Northridge – 1983-86) with one more.
Erb and her Haven teammates kick off their quest for a National Championship tomorrow (Thursday, May 21) at 6 p.m. LHU is set to take on Le Moyne in Salem, Va.
