ERIE, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men’s soccer team (0-2-1, 0-2 PSAC West) lost to host-Mercyhurst College (3-1, 1-0 PSAC West) 3-1 today in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.
The Bald Eagles were down 3-0 at halftime despite several key chances to score a goal of their own.
Lock Haven dominated the majority of the play in the second half, according to LHU head coach Doug Moore, but his squad was only able to put one behind Mercyhurst goalie Diego Gustin.
Greg Shertzer (Lebanon, Pa./Cedar Crest) scored in the 73rd minute to make it 3-1.
Shertzer collected the ball after a turnover in midfield and put the ball away after a breakaway.
Moore was pleased with the team’s second half performance, but Lock Haven just could muster up any more tallies.
Chris Custer (Aston, Pa./Sun Valley) was solid in net for LHU and turned in a four-save effort.
The Bald Eagles return to action on Wednesday, September 9 at Davis & Elkins at 2 p.m. in a non-conference match.
