LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock University women’s soccer team (1-4, 0-4 PSAC West) was downed by visiting Gannon University (2-3, 1-3 PSAC West) 3-1 today in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West action.
Lock Haven went up 1-0 in the 25th minute after a sensational goal by Amy Wittman (Delmont, Pa./Franklin Regional).
Wittman’s goal was set up by a perfect pass from Carly D’Orsaneo (Elverson, Pa./Living Word Academy).
Gannon tied the game at 1-1 in the 34th minute and the match was knotted at 1-1 at halftime.
Gannon took the lead on a 64th minute tally and added an insurance-goal in the 69th minute of action.
Kim Bentley (Springdale, Pa./Springdale) was solid for Lock Haven in net and made seven saves over 90 minutes of action.
During the 2009 season the LHU women’s soccer team is doing all they can to help fight childhood cancer by raising money for Alex’s Lemonade Stand.
Today, the Lady Eagles wore special edition jerseys in honor of their special cause.
The Lady Eagles are back in action on Wednesday, September 16 at California (Pa.) University. The match is set for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
