Volleyball drops two in PSAC Crossover action
 

CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Lock Haven University volleyball team (8-4) went 0-2 today in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East-West Crossover action at California (Pa.) University.

Lock Haven fell to Clarion 3-2 (22-25, 25-18, 18-25, 25-19 & 15-8) before taking on host-California, the 2008 PSAC and Atlantic Region Champions. Cal beat Lock Haven 3-2 (25-22, 26-24, 16-25, 23-25 & 15-10).

Christie Naumann (Charters Towers, Australia/Gladstone) led the way for LHU in the loss to Clarion. She had eight kills and two solo blocks.

Kim Windstein (McMurray, Pa./Peters Township) had five kills, one solo block and two block assists to help Lock Haven’s effort.

Christina Laury (Horsham, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) and Fabiana Gomez (Montevideo, Uruguay/Consejo de E.S.) led LHU in digs with 25 and 23, respectively.

Lock Haven fell behind 2-0 to California, before winning the third and fourth sets to send the match into the deciding fifth set. In fifth set Cal downed LHU 15-10.

Xuan Gao (Dong Ying, China/Zibo No. 10 Middle School) had a team-high 17 kills in the loss to Cal. Xuan hit .333 and added 20 digs.

Haley Gribler (Powell, Ohio/Olentangy-Liberty) added 16 kills and a team-high six service aces.

Gomez tallied a team-high 35 assists.

The Lady Eagles are back in action tomorrow (Saturday, September 19) at Indiana (Pa.) University in more PSAC Crossover action. Lock Haven takes on Slippery Rock at 12:30 p.m. and IUP at 5:30 p.m.
