MANSFIELD, Pa. – Both the Lock Haven University men’s and women’s cross country teams turned in sensational outings today at the Mansfield Mountaineer Flatland Invitational.
The Bald and Lady Eagles took home team titles in both 6K races, while The Haven men also placed second overall in 10K race, as the teams split for today’s action.
Leading the men to the team title in the 6K race was a 1-2-3-4 finish.
The Bald Eagles (30 points) topped East Stroudsburg and Shippensburg, who rounded out the top-three teams.
Lock Haven’s front four once again dominating the competition.
Nick Hilton (Reading, Pa./Exeter Township) took home the individual crown after crossing the finish line in a solid time of 18:34.00.
Right behind Hilton was Brandon Pomerantz (Holland, Pa./Council Rock North), A.J. Johnson (Coventry, R.I./Coventry) and Jed Yeatts (Mercersburg, Pa./James Buchanan), who capped off Lock Haven’s tremendous front-running punch.
Mitch Miller (Morrisville, N.Y./Morrisville-Eaton) was second overall in the 10K race with a time of 32:09.70 as he continues to turn in some quality early-season performances.
Mike Garraway (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) added a 15th place finish in the men’s 10K race.
The Lady Eagles took home the 6K team title after they put three runners within the race’s top eight finishers.
Leading the way for The Haven women was freshman Lindsay Topper (Shillington, Pa./Governor Mifflin), who was fifth overall with a time of 22:15.20.
Lindsey Lambert’s (Howell, N.J./Howell) and Alexis Patrick (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) went 7-8 to lead LHU to the win.
With the help of the Lady Eagles solid trio, the women (54 points) beat Millersville and Shippensburg, who rounded out the top-three in the women’s 6K race.
LHU head coach Aaron Russell was very pleased with his teams’ performances today.
Russell made special note of Miller stepping up leading a young group of runners in the men’s 10K.
Russell, who called the men’s one through four sweep in the 6K “huge,” was very pleased with how the guys stepped up in that race.
According to Russell, he couldn’t be more pleased with the effort of his women today and called the women’s 6K very exciting for us.
Both teams are back in action on Friday, October 2 at the Paul Short Invitational, hosted by Lehigh.
