SOMERSET, N.J. – Junior Amy Hordendorf (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights) of the Lock Haven University field hockey team was named Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Week for her recent efforts in leading the Lady Eagles to a perfect 2-0 week.
The Haven went 2-0, thanks in large part to the efforts of Hordendorf, who led LHU with a five-goal week.
In the 5-1 win over Colgate, she led the way with the hat trick. Hordendorf opened the scoring the 11th minute before tacking on two goals in the second half.
In the 4-2 win over La Salle, Hordendorf knocked home a pair of goals to pace The Haven attack.
Hordendorf is leading LHU this season in goals and total points with seven and 15 (one assist), receptively.
This is the second such honor this season for the Lady Eagles. Sophomore Kristi Shepps (Willow Street, Pa./Penn Manor) took home Player of the Week honors on August 31.
Lock Haven gets back to action on Saturday (September 26), when the Lady Eagles play host to Temple. LHU is 2-2-1 lifetime against Temple, but lost the last meeting 3-2 in overtime (2007). On Sunday, Lock Haven takes on Saint Joseph’s. The two sides have only meet once prior with Lock Haven winning the 1986-meeting 3-2 in overtime.
