Lady Eagles win NEC opener, down Quinnipiac 4-0
 

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Junior Amy Hordendorf (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights) scored just 4:10 into the match to pave the way for the Lock Haven University field hockey team’s (8-3, 1-0 NEC) 4-0 win over visiting Quinnipiac University (1-7, 0-1 NEC).

Hordendorf, the Lady Eagles leading scorer fnished the game with two goals to lead The Haven past QU in the Northeast Conference (NEC) opener for both teams.

The win marked the 25th straight conference win for LHU, who hadn’t fallen in a NEC match since a 2006 meeting with Quinnipiac.

Lock Haven is now 37-2 all-time against NEC opponents.

Lock Haven led 1-0 at halftime on Hordendorf’s first goal, and the junior-forward made it 2-0 in the 49th minute.

Lock Haven’s other two tallies came from Alanna Lewis (Trinidad & Tobago/Southeast Port-of-Spain) and Casey Hughes (Schwenksville, Pa./Souderton).

LHU goalkeeper Erin Terreson (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad Weiser) made two saves in the win.

Lock Haven outshot QU 13-7 and held an11-6 advantage in penalty corners.

The Lady Eagles return to action on Sunday, October 4 when they travel to West Chester University at noon.
