LHU Wrestling - Women

Women’s Wrestling set for 3rd year of competition

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven University women’s wrestling team enters its third season of competition and is poised to reach out nationally to young women seeking an opportunity to pursue excellence, both the mat and in the classroom.

Lock Haven boasts a rich 71-year history of wrestling that includes Olympians, World Team members, NCAA Division I Champions and All-Americans, including the likes of the legendary Gray Simons and two-time NCAA Champion Cary Kolat.

The Lady Eagles seek to add to this proud history at The Haven.

Central Pennsylvania is a hotbed of high school and college wrestling and the influence on LHU women has been felt.

In fact, years before the start of the women’s program, LHU was the cradle of success for Olympic Silver Medalist Sara McMann, National Champion and World Championship bronze medalist Jenny Wong, Pan-Am Games Silver Medalist Jenna Pavlik and Erin Tomeo, a two-time World Team Trials champion.

Tomeo moved on to the Olympic Training Center, excelling as an athlete and now as a coach.

Lock Haven is seeking motivated women, who desire to compete at the highest level, while pursuing academic excellence.

As women’s wrestling continues to grow, the need for women’s coaches will as well. Lock Haven is famous four its great history of producing educators and coaches. Naturally The Haven is committed to developing women with a desire to coach wrestling as well as compete.
