Lady Eagles roll to 5-0 mark in NEC play, shutout St. Francis 4-0 on Senior Day

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University field hockey team (14-3, 5-0 NEC) recorded its seventh straight shutout, as the Lady Eagles rolled past visiting Saint Francis (Pa.) University (2-13, 2-3 NEC) 4-0 today in Northeast Conference (NEC) action.

The Lady Eagles got two goals in each half and Amy Hordendorf (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights) led the way with a two-goal outing.

The win also marks 11th in a row for LHU, as the Lady Eagles have shutout opponents the last seven times out. Over the last seven games, The Haven has outscored opponents 26-0.

Casey Hughes (Schwenksville, Pa./Souderton) opened the scoring in the 22nd minute when she ripped home a direct shot off a penalty corner. Hughes sent the ball far post and into the lower corner.

Hordendorf made it 2-0 in the 32nd minute and LHU led 2-0 after the opening 35 minutes of play.

Both of Hordendorf’s goals came off assists from sister Amanda Hordendorf (Topton, Pa./Brandywine Heights).

Alanna Lewis (Trinidad & Tobago/Southeast Port of Spain) made it 3-0 in the 51st minute and Amy Hordendorf scored her second goal and team-leading 21st of the season in the 56th minute of play.

LHU goalkeeper Erin Terreeson (Robesonia, Pa./Conrad Weiser) made only one save in the win, but her one save was a sensational point-blank effort that helped preserve The Haven shutout.

Lock Haven outshot SFU 26-3 and held an 8-2 advantage in penalty corners.

The win is 29th straight for LHU over a NEC opponent and runs the Lady Eagles all-time conference record to 41-2.

Lock Haven is back in action on Friday, October 23 at 3 p.m. when they host Sacred Heart in NEC action.
