Tim Getz was the Bald Eagles second runner today at 4K after a 16th place showing

CARLISLE, Pa. - The Lock Haven University men’s and women’s cross country teams were in action today at the Dickinson College Long/Short Invitational.
The Bald Eagles finished second out of 15 teams while the women placed sixth out of 12.
On the men’s side there was a 4K and 8K race while the women’s races were broken up into a 4K and 6K run. The top-three finishers on the men’s and women’s side at each distance made up the respective overall team scores.
The Bald Eagles were fourth overall in the 4K race while they finished third overall at 8K giving them 86 total points, which put them behind host and team-champion Dickinson, who won with 43 points.
Leading the way for the men was sophomore Brandon Pomertantz (Holland, Pa./Council Rock North) who finished second at 4K with a time of 12:25.72.
Rookie Tim Getz (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) was second for the LHU covering the 4K course in 12:48.95, which was good enough for 16th overall.
Sophomores Jed Yeatts (Mercersburg, Pa./James Buchanan) and Chris Bell (Marysville, Pa./Susquenita) placed 22nd and 23rd, respectively for the men.
Freshman Nick Hilton (Reading, Pa./Exeter) was the men’s top finisher in the 8K race taking ninth overall with a time of 27:18.25.
Fellow rookies Justin Amy (Sweet Valley, Pa./Lake-Lehman), 19th and Kyle Harvey (Shinglehouse, Pa./Oswayo Valley), 20th ran solid races together finishing in 28:01.64 and 28:01.89, respectively.
The Lady Eagles combined to finish sixth overall with 202 points. The LHU women were 10th in the 4K race and seventh at 6K.
At 4K, it was junior Shala Simms (Upper Darby, P.a/Upper Darby) leading the way for the women’s side as she turned in a fourth-place showing with a time of 14:43.94.
Fellow classmate Alyssa Douma (West Milford) was the Lady Eagles second runner at 4K, helping to pace the Haven’s effort today.
In the women’s 6K race Lindsey Scheller (Sunbury, Pa./Shiellany) and Jenelle Gobel (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) finished 19th and 20th with times of 25:15.33 and 25:23.58.
Both teams are back in action Friday, Oct. 12 at 9 a.m. when they travel to the Penn State University National Invitational.
