Getting to Know: Jenelle Gobel

Jenelle Gobel is next in our ongoing series focusing on LHU athletes.

Gobel is in the midst of her freshman season at Lock Haven and has ran very well to this point. She has solidified herself as the number three runner with a few great performances in the early part of her career. She placed 20th at Dickinson College and a stellar 15th place performance at Kutztown. Gobel is coming off an injury during her senior season of high school but is recovering well. A Brick, NJ native, Jenelle is the daughter of Richard and Maria Gobel and is a Health and Physical Education Major with a Minor in Coaching

1. What is your favorite class and why?

- My favorite class is sociology because the teacher is so funny and keeps my attention.

2. To date what has been the highlight of your Lock Haven career?

- It’s been brief so my real highlight has just been running cross country.

3. As a cross country runner, is there any one runner you modeled yourself after?

- No, I just do it because it’s what I love.

4. Who is your biggest non-sports role model and why?

- A teacher of mine in high school because he helped me a lot.

5. Do you have any pre-race rituals? What are they?

- Yes, I just take a walk by myself and think positively.

6. What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given and who gave it to you?

- The best advice I had ever gotten was to be confident with yourself and that came from my high school coach.

7. What CD do you have in your collection or song in your iPod that would surprise people?

- All of my rap music.



8. When your cross country career is over, what do you see yourself doing?

- I would like to just keep running because at some point I want to run a marathon .

9. Describe what it feels like on race day?

- It is very exciting, my heart beats so fast, but I’m nervous at the same time.
