Men Third, Women 10th at PSAC Cross Country Championships
 

Junior Shala Simms took sixth at today's PSAC Championships, her finish was the best for a Lady Eagle since 1997. The women took 10th overall while the Bald Eagles placed third as a team.

KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University men’s and women’s cross country teams were both in action today at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships run on Kutztown University’s North Campus course.

The Bald Eagles were in search of their fifth consecutive crown, but finished third behind two of the nation’s top 10 teams. No. 9 Edinboro University won the men’s championships while No. 5 Slippery Rock University placed second.

The Lady Eagles finished 10th as a team and were led by junior Shala Simms (Upper Darby, Pa./Upper Darby) who earned All-PSAC honors after placing an impressive sixth overall. She covered the 6K course in 24:10 and her sixth place finish is the best by a Lady Eagle since 1997.

Leading the way for the men was senior Shawn Moore (Elverson, Pa./Twin Valley) and Jed Yeatts (Mercersburg, Pa./James Buchanan) who both earned all-conference honors.

Moore took 15th with a time of 27:02, while Yeatts covered the 8K course in 27:05 and took 19th.

Bald Eagle rookie Tim Getz (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Srasbury) just missed picking up All-PSAC honors after taking 21st in 27:25.

Both teams are back in action on Saturday, Nov. 3 in the NCAA Division II East Region Championships which will be held at Lock Haven.
