Following a career game last night junior Lauren Kelshaw dropped a career-high 20 points today in the Lady Eagles win over West Virginia State.

INSTITUTE W.Va. – The Lock Haven University women’s basketball team (1-1) picked up their first win of the young season this afternoon topping West Virginia State University (0-2) 98-93 in overtime at the West Virginia State Tip-Off classic.
The win marked the first for new head coach Jennifer Smith.
Leading the way for the Lady Eagles was sophomore forward Kara Waltenbaugh (New Stanton, Pa./Hempfield), who was huge today as she recorded a double-double. She netted 20 points to go along with 12 boards.
Junior Lauren Kelshaw (Weatherly, Pa./Weatherly) had another career day, throwing down a career-high 20 points to help lead the Lady Eagles offensively. She also pulled in five rebounds and dished three assists.
Casi Donelan (Fairfax, Va./Goldey-Beacom College) had another strong outing in just her second game in crimson and white. The sophomore-transfer netted 19 points, pulled in seven rebounds and dished out three assists.
Sophomores Malika Miller (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) and Kristin Kudrick (Harrison City, Pa./Penn Trafford) played well today scoring 17 and 14, respectively.
Lock Haven led 45-35 at the break and led by as many as 12 in the second half, but their hosts wouldn’t go away easily and were able to battle back eventually tying the contest and sending it into overtime.
In the overtime period LHU outscored WVSU 14-9 to seal the win on the road.
The Lady Eagles are back in action on Wednesday, Nov. 21 at 6:30 p.m. when they play host to Wilmington College in the Haven’s home opener.
