Lady Eagles drop Mansfield 73-65 on the road

Junior Lauren Kelshaw tied her career high tonight as she led the Lady Eagles with a 24-point night.

MANSFIELD, Pa. – The Lock Haven University women’s basketball team (3-5) picked up a solid win on the road tonight at Mansfield University (2-4) 73-65.

Junior Lauren Kelshaw (Weatherly, Pa./Weatherly) paved the way for the Lady Eagles as she tied her career-high with a team-high 24 points in tonight’s win. She also pulled down four rebounds.

Tonight’s game marked the first time Lock Haven had been in action since the Haven downed Kutztown University 63-48 at home back on Dec. 2.

Sophomore Kristin Kudrick (Harrison City, Pa./Penn Trafford) had a strong game to help pace Haven, while just missing a double-double. She scored 14 points to go along with nine rebounds. Kudrick also led LHU with a team-high three steals.

Sophomore Casi Donelan (Fairfax, Va./Goldey-Beacom) had a solid outing for Lock Haven as she chipped in with 12 points and eight boards.

The Lady Eagles spread things around well offensively tonight as nine different players scored, including Michelle Mitchell (Scranton, Pa./Lackawanna C.C.) who dropped seven points, while both Malika Miller (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) and Aiesha Smith (Philadelphia/Paul Robeson) netted six points apiece.

Lock Haven went on a 9-0 run with just over seven minutes to play in the first half and that led the way for their 10-point halftime lead. Mansfield made things interesting in the second half, but a solid all-around night for the Haven led them to the important road win.

The Lady Eagles are back in action tomorrow night (Dec. 19) when they travel to Bloomsburg University for a 5:30 contest.
