Lauren Kelshaw knocked in 26 of LHU's 64 points but it wasn't enough as LHU fell to visiting West Chester 79-64.

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Lauren Kelshaw’s (Weatherly, Pa./Weatherly) season and game high 26 points weren't enough to overcome a potent West Chester University (8-3, 0-0 PSAC East) attack as the Lock Haven University Lady Eagles (4-8, 0-0 PSAC West) dropped their third game in a row as they fell 79-64 to the visiting Rams in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossover action.
The Haven took control early in the first half as just four minutes in they held a solid 11-6 lead over the visiting Rams.
LHU would maintain its lead until 13:12 to go in the opening frame when a Renata Neal layup would give West Chester a 14-13 advantage.
West Chester’s lead would be short lived as Kelshaw knocked down one of her five triples on the afternoon to give the Lady Eagles the lead back at 16-14.
Kelshaw and the Lady Eagles would hold that lead until two minutes later when a Janelle Garber jumper would knot the game up at 18 a piece.
Dana Weems would give West Chester the lead for good with 10:09 to go in the first half as they took a 20-18 lead.
From that moment forward until the break LHU would shoot an ice cold 3-13 from the field and would trail the Rams 42-27 at the break.
LHU would continue to do battle for the remainder of the game and would chip the Ram lead down late but an 11-4 run across the games final six plus minutes wouldn’t be enough for LHU to get the win as West Chester would come away with a 79-64 victory over the Lady Eagles.
While Kelshaw led the way with her 26 point effort, Malika Miller (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) and Michelle Mitchell (Scranton, Pa./Lackawanna C.C.) would also help the Lock Haven cause as they each knocked down nine a piece.
Leading the way on the glass was Aiesha Smith (Philadelphia, PA/Paul Robeson) with six boards and also helping the LHU cause was Casi Donelan (Fairfax, VA/Goldey-Beacom College) who distributed the ball well and picked up six assists for the game.
West Chester was hot from the field as they shot 51.7 percent for the game, including a 4-9 effort from beyond the arc.
Leading a balanced West Chester attack which saw four players in double digits was Neal who buried 15 points for the visiting Rams and also pulled down 11 rebounds as she recorded a double-double.
LHU is back in action on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 as they travel to Point Park University. Tip off is slated for 7 p.m. at Point Park University in downtown Pittsburgh.
