CALIFORNIA, Pa. – Lock Haven University’s men’s basketball squad (2-21, 2-7 PSAC West) fell on the road in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West division action to California University of Pa. (18-4, 8-0 PSAC West) 70-58.

After trailing big early, the Bald Eagles clawed back to take the halftime lead at a 26-24 score.

LHU would then score the first points of the second half to take their biggest lead of the afternoon at a 28-24 margin.

Cal would come back and take the lead at 32-30 with 15:22 to play in the game.

Lock Haven wouldn’t go away as they pushed back to a tie game at 40 a piece with 11 and change to play.

But the Vulcans would pull away late to defeat Lock Haven 70-58 at Hamer Hall as LHU’s bid for a third victory fell short.

Billy Arre (Pittsburgh/Thomas Jefferson) was limited to a season low nine points but was one of the three team leaders in rebounds with five a piece as he joined Denny Mortimer (Silver Spring, Md./Mansfield University) and Palmer on the glass.

LHU returns to action on Wednesday, February 20 as they play host to Clarion University for their final home contest of the season. Tip time at Thomas Fieldhouse is slated for 8 p.m.
