HAMPTON, Va. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (0-1) opened their 2008 season last night at the Builder Invitational Tournament hosted by the Apprentice School falling to Kutztown University (1-4) 10-2.

Kutztown is ranked No. 4 in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Division II North Atlantic Regional preseason poll.

The Bald Eagles led 2-0 heading into the bottom half of the second inning after posting two runs in the top half of the second, but KU would go on to scored 10 unanswered runs.

Sophomore Josh Rote (McElhattan, Pa./Central Mountain) got the start on the mound for LHU and took the loss (0-1) after five innings pitched.

In five innings he struck out seven KU batters.

The Bald Eagles are back in action today at the Builder Invitational Tournament. They are schedule for two games. First they are set to face East Stroudsburg University at 3 p.m. followed by a game with Bloomsburg University at 6 p.m.
