EDINBORO, Pa. – Junior Billy Arre (Pittsburgh/Thomas Jefferson) scored a game high 26 points and moved into sole possession of third place on the LHU all-time scoring list, but it wasn’t enough as Lock Haven’s men basketball squad (2-23, 2-9 PSAC West) fell at Edinboro University (20-5, 9-1 PSAC West) 101-75.
Arre’s 26 points gives him a grand total of 1604 points across his career and leaves him only 112 points from taking the all-time lead from current record holder Michael Shue.
Edinboro lead from the get go as they put The Haven at an early 9-3 disadvantage, but LHU would climb back into the contest in the early going and get as close as two points just over five minutes into the game.
LHU would keep the contest close until a 13-2 run in the middle portion of the first frame would give Edinboro a double-digit lead for good as they would eventually defeat the Bald Eagles 101-75.
While Arre’s 26 lead all scorers, he also got a hand off the bench from David Blackwell (Teaneck, N.J./Teaneck) who chipped in 11 on the afternoon.
On the glass it was junior big-man A.J. Zimmer (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park) showing the way with four boards.
One bright spot for the Bald Eagles was their bench, who played well as they outscored the Fighting Scots bench by a 24-20 margin.
Lock Haven is next back in action on Saturday, March 1 as they look to end the season on a bright note as they travel to Indiana University of Pa. (IUP) to take on the Crimson Hawks. Tip time from Memorial Fieldhouse is slated for 3 p.m.
