Zach Schuler went 2-for-2 at the plate today for the Bald Eagles.

HAMPTON, Va. – The Lock Haven University baseball team (2-2) shut down the Apprentice School (4-4) as the Bald Eagles won 5-0 today in their final game at the 2008 Builder Invitational Tournament.

Freshman pitcher Andrew Simonik (Jermyn, Pa./Lakeland) picked up the first win of his career as he went the distance pitching all nine innings for the shutout. He gave up just three hits while striking out two.

LHU scored their five runs on five hits and committed no errors.

Shortstop Zach Schuler (Mt. Wolf, Pa./Delaware Valley) led the Bald Eagles at the plate as he went 2-for-2.

Catcher Nick Harner (Dauphin, Pa./Chowan College) had two RBI for LHU.

Yesterday the Bald Eagles went 1-1 as they beat East Stroudsburg University 8-7 before losing to Bloomsburg University 7-4.

Against ESU the Haven needed extra innings as they found themselves trailing 7-5 heading to the plate in the bottom half of the 10th inning.

The Bald Eagles would go on to post a three-run inning, picking up all the offense they needed to take home the victory.

Sophomore Bobby Fiala (Pembroke Pines, Fla./Everglades) got the start and worked six innings striking out five.

Freshman Jordan Yohn (Three Springs, Pa./Southern Huntington) picked up the win for LHU after pitching the last four innings of action. He gave up four hits and struck out seven.

Sophomore Mike Drawbaugh (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock Township) led the Haven with two RBI.

LHU lost its second game yesterday 7-4 to Bloomsburg.

The Bald Eagles were led at the plate by Harner and freshman Dean Pettinato (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) who went 3-for-4 and 2-for-4, respectively.

The Bald Eagles are back in action on Sunday, March 2 at noon when they travel to Columbia Union College.
