COLUMBIA, Mo. – Freshman Amanda Terray (Coaldale, Pa./Panther Valley) of the Lock Haven University swim team opened up her 2008 NCAA Division II Men’s & Women’s Swimming & Diving National Championships appearance with a 24th places showing in the 50 freestyle prelims today.
Heading in to today’s competition Terray and LHU head coach Andy Waeger just wanted to use this race as a chance to get a feel for the NCAA meet.
Terray did just that and much more as she smashed her lifetime best in the event with a time of 24.22.
Her time also sits as the second-best in Lock Haven history.
Heading into the event she was ranked 46th of 52.
Waeger couldn’t have been more please with his rookie as she really went after it early in her NCAA championships debut.
Terray is off tomorrow, but back in action on Friday morning in the prelims of the 100 backstroke, where she is ranked 10th going in.
