Terray stands with her All-American hardware after taking sixth place in the 100 backstroke making LHU history.

COLUMBIA, Mo. – She’s been making history in the pool all season long and freshman Amanda Terray (Coaldale, Pa./Panther Valley) of the Lock Haven University swim team continued to do so today earning All-American status, marking the first time a Lady Eagle swimmer has ever achieved the prestigious honor.
Competing at the 2008 NCAA Division II Men’s & Women’s Swimming & Diving National Championships Terray finished sixth overall with a lifetime mark of 57.11 in the 100 backsrtoke.
LHU head coach Andy Waeger couldn’t have been more pleased with his rookie swimmer after she made history today.
Waeger noted that technically it wasn’t her best race ever, but called her a flat out gutsy racer.
In this morning’s prelims she hit a lifetime best after taking third in her heat and headed into the finals eighth overall with a time of 57.17.
The pressure was off in the finals as she couldn’t finish any worse than eight, but she went after it again as she always does.
So far at the NCAA’s she has swum two races and hit two lifetime bests.
Terray is back in action tomorrow morning in the 200 backstroke.
