LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - The Lock Haven University men’s and women’s track and field teams hosted the first ever Elliston Early Bird meet today at Hubert Jack stadium.
The meet was named for former coach Mark Ellison and both teams turned in some solid early season performances on their home track.
Leading the way was 2008 Indoor All-American Chelsea Morse (Beaver Dams, N.Y./Campbell-Savona), who won the high and long jump events.
Morse won the high jump with a mark of 5-07.00, which is a NCAA provisional qualifying mark.
She also won the long jump with a mark of 18-00.50.
Senior Jen Andrews (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) had a big meet for the Lady Eagles. She won the shot put, just missing a NCAA qualifying mark in the event.
The Bald Eagles turned in a strong showing in the 10K as their top two finishers flirted with NCAA qualifying times.
Rookie Tim Getz (Lancaster, Pa./Lampeter-Strasbury High School) and Jed Yeatts (Mercersburg, Pa./James Buchanan) took 1-2 in 31:49.72 and 31:52.34, respectively.
Sophomore Greg Mock (Sicklerville, N.J./Timbercreek) won the 100 and 200 meter dashes. He ran 10.98 in the finals of the 100 after running 19.92 in the prelims. His winning time in the 200 was 22.29.
