Four Lady Eagles named to All-Region lacrosse team
 

Sophomore Leigh Titus was an All-Region First Team selection.

WEST HYANNISPORT, Mass. – Four members of the Lock Haven University lacrosse team were have been named to the 2008 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) South All-Region team for their recent efforts in leading the No. 6 Lady Eagles to another successful season.

Leading the way was Jessica Blickenstaff (Thurmont, Md./Catoctin) and Leigh Titus (Towaco, N.J./Montville), as the two both earned a spot on the IWLCA South All-Region First Team.

Junior Amber Hoch (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton Area) and freshman Kathleen Zichelli (South Orange, N.J./Columbia) were both named to the Second Team.

The trio of Blickenstaff, Titus and Hoch all earned Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) First Team honors.

Blickenstaff led LHU in every major offensive category including goals, assists and points with 75, 43 and 188, respectively. She also had a team-high five game winning goals.

Over her three year career she has tallied 210 goals and 317 points, which are both LHU records. Blickenstaff’s 107 assists is second best all-time in school history.

This season Blickenstaff scored at least one goal in every game including a season-high seven goals in a win over Millersville. She tallied a season-best 12 points in a win over Shippensburg.

Titus scored 72 goals on the year, which was second best on the team. She also dished out 24 assists and recorded 96 total points.

She scored at least one goal in all, but one game this season. She scored nine goals in a game against Millersville early in the season and recorded a season-best 13 points in a win over Bloomsburg University in a PSAC Semifinals.

Her 13-point outing was the best individual scoring performance of any Lady Eagle this season.

Hoch was also an important component of the Haven’s explosive offense. She had 48 goals and 29 helpers.

Hoch’s had two seven-point games and scored one goal in every game, but one. She netted a season-best six goals in a 20-5 win over Shippensburg late in the year.

Zichelli enjoyed a stellar rookie campaign as she helped to anchor a strong defensive unit while playing tremendous two-way ball.

The freshman started all 19 games for LHU on defense and contributed offensively as well with seven goals and five assists.

She led the team in ground balls and draw controls with 66 and 50, respectively. Zichelli also caused 21 turnovers.

The Lady Eagles finished the 2008 season 15-4 overall and 12-2 in the PSAC, advancing to the conference championship game where they fell to No. 1 West Chester University, the 2008 NCAA Division II National Champions. Joining the Haven’s four all-region selections were five all-conference athletes.
