NEW ORLEANS – Both the Lock Haven University men’s and women’s track and field teams were named United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II All-Academic Teams for the 2008 Outdoor season.

Both the Bald and Lady Eagles once again showed that they can get it done on the track, in the field and in the most important spot, the classroom.

A total of six individuals from the Haven were named to USTFCCA NCAA Division II All-Academic Team.

Five Bald Eagles earned a spot on the All-Academic team including Ryan Blood ((Summerdale, Pa./Pennsboro), Chris Edelman (Elverson, Pa./Owen J. Roberts), Ben McConnell (Danville, Pa./Danville), Cory Spidell (Home, Pa./Marion Center) and Shawn Wilkinson (Morgantown, Pa./Twin Valley).

Representing the Lady Eagles was Shala Simms (Ardmore, Pa./Upper Darby).

The USTFCCCA honors Division II individuals for their academic and athletic achievements during the indoor and outdoor track and field seasons.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met the NCAA Division II Indoor or Outdoor automatic or provisional qualifying standard in their respective event.
