Pat Rudy
will be entering her 15th season as head field hockey coach at Lock Haven University. She
is only the third head coach in the long and illustrious history of LHU field hockey,
following the legendary names of Charlotte Smith and Sharon Taylor.
Rudy has posted
a 249-60 record in her 14 years of dominance at LHU, reaching her 100th victory at Lock
Haven in 2001, and 400th career victory in 2005.
Rudy led the
2009 Lady Eagles to an 18-5 record and an NEC tournament title for the 4th year
in a row. There were also numerous academic
honors in the 2009 season including eleven girls to the NEC honor roll. She also produced two Division I All-Mideast Region
First Team selections and one Division I All-Mideast Region Second Team selection.
The Lady Eagles
went 19-4 in 2008 and won the NEC Regular-Season and their third consecutive NEC
Tournament title, with Rudy named NEC Coach of the Year for her efforts on the sideline.
In 2000, Coach
Rudy led her squad to the programs seventh national championship as the Lady Eagles
captured the NCAA Division II National Championship with a 2-0 victory over Bentley
College in front of the home crowd at Charlotte Smith Field. For her efforts, Rudy was
named the Division II National Coach of the Year.
Throughout her
fourteen seasons, Rudy has helped direct 39 LHU players to All-America status, 76 to
all-conference honors and 14 to Academic All-America honors.
Rudy is a 1977
graduate of Lock Haven State College who played for Taylor during her days as a Lady
Eagle. Between 1973-76, Rudy scored 65 goals and is still fourth on the LHU all-time
scoring list. The Haven went a combined 48-11-4 during her days as a player.
Rudy received her Bachelor of Science degree in
health and physical education from Lock Haven State College in 1977. She then went on to
earn her master's degree in physical education from Illinois State University in 1981 and
has completed work toward her educational doctorate at Temple University. |
