Bringing with him
19 years of Division I and I-AA coaching experience, John Klacik enters season number six
at the helm of the Bald Eagle football program. He is also offensive coordinator and responsible for the offensive line. In his five years at LHU he has a record of 5-49.
The 2009 Bald
Eagle squad went 0-10 and 0-7 in the PSAC West. The
Bald Eagles look forward to improving in their 2010 season.
Klacik, an LHU
alum, has spent all but one season of his coaching career at YSU, and was a part of four
NCAA I-AA National Championship teams. He started with the Penguins as the tight ends
coach, working his way up the ladder through the offense, moving to wide receivers,
quarterbacks, offensive line and then as offensive coordinator for his last four seasons.
Klacik worked under current Ohio State University head coach Jim Tressel for 12 years.
He also spent
the 2000 season at Division I Wake Forest University, working with the quarterbacks before
returning to YSU in his most recent role.
The 2006 Bald
Eagle squad went 2-9 and 1-4 in the PSAC West. The
Bald Eagles were close to improving on their record from the 2005 season, but fell in
close games against Shippensburg University and IUP. The
2006 squad had the most receptions in a season (163) since the 1996 season and the least
amount of penalties (49) since the 2000 season.
A standout wide receiver, Klacik
graduated with a bachelors degree in sports/fitness management from LHU in 1988. He
led the Bald Eagles in receiving yards in each of his four seasons at the Haven, ranking
eighth in school history with 1,976 career yards.
