In
2009, her eleventh season at the
helm, Kelley Green guided Lock Haven
to their second Division II National
Championship in four years. She
also led the Lady Eagles to their 4th
straight PSAC Championship and 4th
straight Atlantic Region Title.
Under
her direction, senior pitcher
Kristen Erb was named Division II
National Pitcher of Year and was a
finalist for the Honda Collegiate
Women’s Sports Award. Green was
honored as PSAC Central Coach of the
Year, while also guiding seven
players to the All-PSAC Central team
and 3 players to the All-Region
team.
During
her tenure at Lock Haven University,
Green has led the Lady Eagles to
national distinction, winning the
Division II National Championship in
2009 and 2006 and posting an
impressive 346-134 overall mark,
making her the winningest coach in
LHU softball history.
In 2008
she was named the PSAC Western
Division Coach of the Year. For the
third year in a row her team was
PSAC Western Division Champions,
PSAC Tournament Champs., and
Mid-Atlantic Region Champs. The
Lady Eagles also finished fourth at
the NCAA Championships in Houston,
Texas. She guided three players to
all-American status, four to the
all-Region list, and six players to
the all-PSAC West team.
She was
honored with the 2006 Pennsylvania
State Athletic Conference (PSAC)
Coach of the Year. Green and her
assistant, Kelly Shannon were named
the National Fastpitch Coaches
Association (NFCA) Division II
Coaching Staff of the Year. She has
had three 30-win seasons in her
tenure, including a record-breaking
2006 when Lock Haven posted a
program-best 56 wins. In 2007, the
Lady Eagles finished as Division II
National Runner-ups, NCAA Division
II Mid-Atlantic Champions, PSAC
Tournament champions, and PSAC West
Champions.
The
Lady Eagles overall record in 2007
was 52-5, 19-1 PSAC. Under her
direction, sophomore pitcher Kristin
Erb was a finalist for the Honda
Collegiate Women’s Sports Award and
was a First Team All-American for
the second consecutive season. The
Lady Eagles had eight first team
All-PSAC players and three NFCA
Division II All-Region First Team
players.
In
2006, along with being the Division
II National Champions, LHU was also
the Mid-Atlantic Regional Champions,
the Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference (PSAC) Champions and the
PSAC West Champions. The overall
record in 2006 was 56-4, 20-0 PSAC.
Under her direction, freshman
pitcher Kristin Erb was honored with
NCAA/Honda Division II Female
Athlete of the Year and Green also
coached two All-American selections.
The
2005 Lady Eagle squad boasted a
35-10 mark and the first PSAC West
title for LHU since the 1988 season.
The Haven was 17-1 in conference
play and defended home Lawrence
Field to the tune of a 10-0 mark...
LHU earned a berth in both the PSAC
and NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional
tournaments. The Lady Eagles hit
.332 as a squad last season, scoring
263 runs, both school bests. The
2005 team also set then school marks
in hits (400), doubles (84), home
runs (28), extra-base hits (127),
RBI (244) and sac bunts (85), making
it one of the most successful
seasons in LHU history.
In
2004, the Lady Eagles had a 14-win
turnaround from the previous season,
working their way to a 27-17 mark,
the second 20-win season under
Green. The team also had a 16-4 PSAC
West ledger, good for second place
in the division. Four Lady Eagles
earned all-conference honors.
In
2002, Green took the Lady Eagles to
the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic
Region finals, the PSAC tournament,
and wrapped up the year with a
school-record 37 wins. Six Lady
Eagles earned All-PSAC honors and
one went on to garner LHU's
first-ever All-America award. Coach
Green was named PSAC West Coach of
the Year, and both Green and then
assistant coach Leslie Moore earned
the NFCA Division II Regional
Coaching Staff of the Year award.
Prior
to coming to Lock Haven, Green spent
two seasons playing for the Virginia
Roadsters, a team in the Women's
Professional Softball League.
Green
also served two seasons as an
assistant coach for the women's
softball team at Penn State
University from 1996-98, where she
was an integral part of the Lady
Lions' success and assisted in all
facets of the program. In addition
to her coaching and professional
experience, Green's collegiate
career was spent at Northwestern
University (1992-1996), where she
was a three-time All-Big Ten player,
and also garnered All-Mideast Region
laurels, as well as an A.S.A.
third-team All-American certificate
in 1995.
Upon
graduation, Green was the
Northwestern single season and
career record holder in hits with 68
in 1994 and a four-year total of 215
safeties.
She
also ranks among the top four in
several other career and single
season major offensive categories,
including doubles, RBIs, and batting
average.
In
1996, Green received the
Northwestern Outstanding Senior
Athlete Award, and also earned her
Bachelor's Degree in Education and
Social Policy.
