tenth season

In her ten years at Lock Haven University, Kelley Green has led the Lady Eagles to national distinction, winning the Division II National Championship in 2006 and posting an impressive 295-128 overall mark, making her the winningest coach in LHU softball history.

In 2008 she was named the PSAC Western Division Coach of the Year.  For the third year in a row her team was PSAC Western Division Champions, PSAC Tournament Champs., and Mid-Atlantic Region Champs.  The Lady Eagles also finished fourth at the NCAA Championships in Houston, Texas.  She guided three players to all-American status, four to the all-Regions list, and six players to the all-PSAC West team.  All of those stand-out players will return for Coach Green next season where they will look to continue their tradition of success.

She was honored with the 2006 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Coach of the Year. Green and her assistant, Kelly Shannon were named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Coaching Staff of the Year. She has had three 30-win seasons in her tenure, including a record-breaking 2006 when Lock Haven posted a program-best 56 wins. In 2007, the Lady Eagles finished as Division II National Runner-ups, NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Champions, PSAC Tournament champions, and PSAC West Champions.

The Lady Eagles overall record in 2007 was 52-5, 19-1 PSAC. Under her direction, sophomore pitcher Kristin Erb was a finalist for the Honda Collegiate Women’s Sports Award and was a First Team All-American for the second consecutive season. The Lady Eagles had eight first team All-PSAC players and three NFCA Division II All-Region First Team players.

In 2006, along with being the Division II National Champions, LHU was also the Mid-Atlantic Regional Champions, the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Champions and the PSAC West Champions. The overall record in 2006 was 56-4, 20-0 PSAC. Under her direction, freshman pitcher Kristin Erb was honored with NCAA/Honda Division II Female Athlete of the Year and Green also coached two All-American selections.

The 2005 Lady Eagle squad boasted a 35-10 mark and the first PSAC West title for LHU since the 1988 season. The Haven was 17-1 in conference play and defended home Lawrence Field to the tune of a 10-0 mark... LHU earned a berth in both the PSAC and NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional tournaments. The Lady Eagles hit .332 as a squad last season, scoring 263 runs, both school bests. The 2005 team also set then school marks in hits (400), doubles (84), home runs (28), extra-base hits (127), RBI (244) and sac bunts (85), making it one of the most successful seasons in LHU history.

In 2004, the Lady Eagles had a 14-win turnaround from the previous season, working their way to a 27-17 mark, the second 20-win season under Green. The team also had a 16-4 PSAC West ledger, good for second place in the division. Four Lady Eagles earned all-conference honors.

In 2002, Green took the Lady Eagles to the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Region finals, the PSAC tournament, and wrapped up the year with a school-record 37 wins. Six Lady Eagles earned All-PSAC honors and one went on to garner LHU's first-ever All-America award. Coach Green was named PSAC West Coach of the Year, and both Green and then assistant coach Leslie Moore earned the NFCA Division II Regional Coaching Staff of the Year award.

Prior to coming to Lock Haven, Green spent two seasons playing for the Virginia Roadsters, a team in the Women's Professional Softball League.

Green also served two seasons as an assistant coach for the women's softball team at Penn State University from 1996-98, where she was an integral part of the Lady Lions' success and assisted in all facets of the program. In addition to her coaching and professional experience, Green's collegiate career was spent at Northwestern University (1992-1996), where she was a three-time All-Big Ten player, and also garnered All-Mideast Region laurels, as well as an A.S.A. third-team All-American certificate in 1995.

Upon graduation, Green was the Northwestern single season and career record holder in hits with 68 in 1994 and a four-year total of 215 safeties.

She also ranks among the top four in several other career and single season major offensive categories, including doubles, RBIs, and batting average.

In 1996, Green received the Northwestern Outstanding Senior Athlete Award, and also earned her Bachelor's Degree in Education and Social Policy.
