Jocelyn Duke

Assistant Coach

Austin Peay

Third season

Jocelyn Duke is entering her third season as assistant coach for The Haven under head coach Jennifer Smith.  Duke continues to assist coach Smith in all facets of the game.

Prior to entering The Haven, Duke took part in various coaching, teaching, and personal training jobs in her hometown of Louisville, Ky.  Such jobs included ECE Assistant teacher in the Behavioral Disability classroom of Thomas Jefferson Middle School, head and assistant coaching positions for basketball at DuPoint Manual and Jeffersontown High School, and a one-on-one fitness instruction at the local YMCA.

Duke’s most recent place of employment before Lock Haven was at Shawnee High School.  Duke helped guide the Shawnee students to academic and athletic excellence.   As instructor of the Business Law on-line and In-School Suspension Programs, she monitored students in succeeding in the on-line classes and mentored others who displayed disciplinary problems.   Athletically, Duke was delegated the title of head coach of the Girl’s Basketball team.   With her comprehension of the game and devotion to the success of her athletes, Jocelyn was voted Coach of the Year in the 6th Region.  This accomplishment also helped her earn the position of All-Star Coach of the Kentucky Battle of Bridges game.

Duke has an Associate’s Degree in Science from Wabash Valley Community College (Mt. Carmel, Illo.).  While attending Wabash Valley (1997-1999), Duke put time on the hardwood as a power forward.  Her hard work paid off as she attended Austin Peay State University (Clarksville,Tenn.) to finish her final two years of academics and athletics.   While at Austin Peay (1999-2001), Duke graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Psychology.   Duke proved her athletic excellence as she grabbed the Extra Mile Award, earned an Honorable Mention to the Conference Team, and finished her senior year with highest total rebounds in the conference at 253.   During her reign, APSU gained a spot in the First Round of the Division I NCAA Championship Tournament and was Champions of the Ohio Valley Conference.
