Kristen
Selvage, already the winningest coach in LHU history (119-47) is entering her
tenth season as head coach, and is looking to improve on last season, where the team
finished 16-2.
In
2010 Selvage led the Lady Eagles to an impressive 16-2 overall record and a 9-1 PSAC West
record. They also won the PSAC West Regular
Season and the PSAC Tournament to send them to the NCAA Division II Final Four.
Selvage
coached three All-Americans, the Defensive Player of the Year, five All Region athletes,
six All PSAC athletes, and the PSAC West Player of the Year.
Selvage also was awarded the PSAC West Coach of the Year. The Lady Eagles look forward to continue their
success in the 2010-2011 season.
2009
was yet another fantastic season for the Selvage led Lady Eagles of Lock Haven. In 2009 the team posted an 18-4 record with, a 7-1
record in the PSAC West. The squad won the
PSAC West Regular Season Championship, and then went on to become the PSAC Tournament
Champions.
In
more post season action, the Lady Eagles made an appearance in the NCAA Division II Final
Four and then earned a trip to the NCAA Finals. Selvage also coached the National
Defensive Player of the Year, four All-Americans, five All-Region athletes, the PSAC West
Player of the Year, the PSAC West Rookie of the Year, and six All PSAC athletes in 2009.
The
Lady Eagles finished the 2008 season ranked No. 6 nationally after going 15-4 overall and
12-2 in the PSAC, advancing to the conference championship game where they fell to No. 1
West Chester University, the 2008 NCAA Division II National Champions. Along with the
Havens three All-Americans in 08, they are joined by four all-region
selections and five all-conference athletes.
Following
the 2008 season, junior midfielder Jessica Blickenstaff, was named IWLCA NCAA D-II
Midfield of the Year for the second straight year, thanks in large part to Selvage's
guidance.
In
2007 her Lady Eagles appeared in the NCAA Final Four. The squad finished 16-4 and 12-2 in
the PSAC. The team broke numerous records in
the 2007 season including most goals in a game (27) and assists in a game (20). The 2006 squad also has several individual honors
including two First Team All-Americans and three All-PSAC First Team.
In
2004, she earned her second PSAC Coach of the Year honor while guiding the Lady Eagles to
their first playoff berth since 1991. The 2003 Lady Eagles set a single-season record with
200 goals on the year.
Selvage
was a standout goalkeeper for the Lock Haven field hockey team from 1994-97, earning the
status of an All-American and an All-PSAC selection in her junior and senior seasons. In
46 games, she posted 255 saves and 20 shutouts. Her career goals-against-average of 0.90
ranks in a tie for fifth place among all Lady Eagle keepers.
Selvage
played on The Havens 1994 and 1995 NCAA Division II National Championship squads,
and was also part of three PSAC post-season tournament championships from 1994-96. She
also experienced success as a member of the Lady Eagle lacrosse team, garnering Second
Team All-America and Second Team All-PSAC honors as an attacker in 1998.
Following
her graduation from Lock Haven in 1998, Selvage served stints as head field hockey coach
at SUNY New Paltz and Elmira College. While at Elmira, she also took on head lacrosse
duties, and prepared both squads for the move from club to varsity level.
In
2000, Selvage moved on to SUNY Geneseo, where she led the Lady Knights field hockey squad
to a runner-up finish in the SUNYAC and a berth to the NYSWCAA playoffs. She guided three
players to all-conference honors and two to All-NYSWCAA accolades. Under Selvage, the Lady
Knight lacrosse team also advanced to the SUNYAC Championship playoffs with three athletes
earning all-state status and two meriting All-SUNYAC honors.
