box score

(Lock Haven, Pa.) – The Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania lacrosse team (0-3, 0-2 PSAC) is still in search of its first win after falling 16-12 to No. 9-ranked Philadelphia University (2-0) on a rain-soaked Charlotte Smith Field.  Jenna Richter ( Long Valley , N.J./West Morris Central) paced the Lady Eagle effort with four goals and two assists.
A quick start for Lock Haven, with Jenna Richter scoring the game’s first two goals, quickly dissipated into a tight first half. Philadelphia went on a five-minute, five-goal run to move out to a 6-3 advantage but three straight from the Lady Eagles evened up the match, 6-6, with just under seven minutes left in the first half. A goal at 1:24 by Philadelphia ’s Jenna Tursi gave the Rams the 7-6 lead entering into the break.
Philadelphia carried that momentum through to the second half, posting three tallies, including two of Stacey Haldeman’s game-high five goals, to stretch the advantage to 10-6.  The teams exchanged goals over the next 12 minutes, a score by the Haven’s Shannon Houck (Gilbertsville/Boyertown) cutting the deficit to three, 12-9, with 12:48 left in the game. The Rams piled on three more in response, however, jumping back out to a more sizeable 15-9 lead by the seven-minute mark. Lock Haven tacked on three more to its score in the closing four minutes, but the damage had already been done as the Lady Eagles were on the down-side of the 16-12 margin when time was called.
Lock Haven’s Jenna Richter led the effort with four goals and two assists while Mandy Alderfer (Harleysville/Souderton) added three goals. Amy Richter ( Long Valley , N.J./West Morris Central) contributed a pair of goals and two assists. In goal, starting keeper Laura Carr (Warminster/Archbishop Wood) stopped 16 shots and Christie Dunning (Ivyland/Central Bucks East) recorded 11 saves in just under 16 minutes of work.
Philadelphia was led by a five goal performance by Stacey Haldeman.  Janet Tarpey added three goals and an assist, while Katie Urso had two goals and an assist.  The Rams’ keeper Jill Martin picked up seven saves in the win.
           The
Lock Haven University lacrosse team remains at home, next hosting Indiana ( Pa. ) University on Sat., March 27, at 1 p.m.
