(Lock Haven, Pa.) – A slow start proved costly for the Lock Haven University (3-5, 2-4 PSAC) women’s lacrosse team as it dropped a 10-6 decision on the road at Millersville University (4-5, 3-3 PSAC). The Marauders put up seven goals to the Lady Eagles’ three in the first half and held on to seal the victory.
             Millersville jumped out to a 4-0 lead after 10 minutes of action. Lock Haven bounced back with three scores to move within one goal, 4-3, midway through the opening period.  By halftime, however, the Marauders would tack on three more for the 7-3 advantage.
             The Lady Eagles came out of the break with three straight goals, including two by Amy Richter (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central), to cut the deficit back to just one goal, 7-6, with just over 15 minutes left to play. Millersville countered with three more goals to secure the lead, however, holding the Haven scoreless the remainder of the way.
              Millersville’s Sharon Faust tallied the hat trick to lead the Marauders. Mary Rafalowski, Christina Nunez and Megan Miller each contributed two goals while Joann Caminiti added one score . Keepers Mia Davis and Sara Snyder combined for six saves.
            Amy and Jenna Richter ( Long Valley , N.J./West Morris Central) combined for all but one of Lock Haven’s goals, Amy posting three while Jenna added two goals and an assist. Jean Kearney (Springfield/Springfield) also contributed one goal.  In goal, Christie Dunning (Ivyland/Central Bucks East) totaled 10 saves.
            The Lock Haven University lacrosse team will next host Shippensburg University on Thurs., April 8, at 2 p.m.
