(Bloomsburg, Pa.) – The Lock Haven University women’s lacrosse team edged out a road victory over No. 10-ranked Bloomsburg University (5-5, 4-3 PSAC) by a final score of 10-9 this afternoon. The Lady Eagles improve to 5-5 overall and 4-4 in the PSAC.
The Huskies were the first to strike just 3:18 into the game, but Lock Haven countered with a pair of goals by Jenna Richter (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) and Jean Kearney (Springfield/Springfield) less than a minute apart to take the 2-1 lead by the 10:16 mark. The advantage bounced back to Bloomsburg after a three-goal run, but another two goals by Jenna Richter tied things up at 4-4 with just over four minutes left in the first half.  The teams traded off points in the time remaining, each netting two more to enter the intermission deadlocked at 6-6.
Diana Strizki (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) set up Amy Richter (
Long Valley , N.J./West Morris Central) for the first goal of the second half and the 7-6 Haven lead.  Bloomsburg matched that score only four minutes later to tie the game for the sixth time.  The Haven regained the lead after Diana Strizki broke out with two unassisted goals, putting the Lady Eagles ahead, 9-7, with just over 11 minutes remaining. Bloomsburg scored twice in the final minutes, including a goal with only one minute left, but a score by Amy Richter ( Long Valley , N.J./West Morris Central) with 1:29 left on the clock proved to be game winner as LHU escaped with the 10-9 victory.
Diana Strizki and Jenna Richter each contributed three goals, Strizki adding two assists and Richter one assist. Amy Richter had two goals while both Jean Kearney and Lindsey McGuire (
Lanoka Harbor , N.J./West Morris Central) added one goal each.  In goal, Christie Dunning (Ivyland/Central Bucks East) tallied 11 saves.
Bloomsburg’s Sheila Zilinski, Georgia Carinci and Allison McFatridge led the effort each with two goals. Keeper  Linda Schultz had five saves.
             The
