(Lock Haven, Pa.) - Their last appearance in the conference tournament was during the 1991 season, but the Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania lacrosse team (8-7, 7-5 PSAC) will finally make a return to the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships after defeating Millersville University (6-9, 5-7 PSAC), 10-9, at home on McCollum Field this afternoon.  Scoring one goal and two assists today, freshman midfielder Jenna Richter ( Long Valley , N.J./West Morris Central) ties the LHU single-season record for assists with a current total 39 on the year.
After fighting through the first half deadlocked at 7-7, the Lady Eagles outscored Millersville 3-2 in a highly defensive second half for the win. The half opened in favor of the Marauders, however, who promptly scored with an unassisted goal by Joann Caminiti at 28:27 for the 8-7 lead.
A three-goal run followed in response by the Haven, using up 16 minutes of the clock in the process. Jenna Richter ( Long Valley , N.J./West Morris Central) netted a free position goal at 24:49 to bring the game back to even at 8-8. Five minutes later, Mandy Alderfer (Harleysville/Souderton) gained possession of a deflected shot and scooped it into the net for the 9-8 Haven lead.  With under ten minutes to play, Diana Strizki (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) and Amy Richter (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) broke free down the field, Strizki feeding the ball to Richter who sliced it past the Marauder keeper for what would become the winning score at 8:46.
Millersville’s Mary Rafalowski notched the final of her three goals with just 10 seconds left after wrapping around to the front of the net and beating the keeper, bringing the score to 10-9 . While the Marauders earned the following draw control, too much time had elapsed and the Haven was able to gain the win and the playoff berth.
A total of seven Haven players tallied goals in the game led by two each from Amy Richter, Shannon Houck (Gilbertsville/Boyertown) and Mandy Alderfer. In the net, Christie Dunning (Ivyland/Central Bucks East) came up with five saves on the day.
Millersville’s Mary Rafalowski and Joann Caminiti each pocketed three goals to pace the Marauders. Backup keeper Mia Davis would close out the game with 10 saves in just under 40 minutes played.
