HILTON
HEAD, S.C. – Sophomore
attack Mandy Alderfer (Harleysville,
Pa./Souderton)
scored with less than two minutes to play to give
No. 7 Lock Haven University
(1-0) a 12-11 win over Merrimack
College (1-1) in a women’s
lacrosse game on Thursday (March 10)
evening.
Alderfer
led the Eagles with four goals, while sophomore midfielder
Jenna Richter (Long
Valley, N.J./West Morris Central)
and senior attack Diana Strizki (Flemington,
N.J./Hunterdon
Central) added three goals each.
The
Warriors trailed 6-3 at halftime, but battled back to take
a 10-9 lead with eight minutes to play in the game. The
Lady Eagles
rebounded to tie it, then took an 11-10 lead.
Merrimack tied the game once again before Alderfer’s
game-winning goal.
Sophomore
Christie Dunning (Ivyland ,
Pa./Central
Bucks East) made 10 saves for the
Lady Eagles to get the win,
while freshman Lawana DaCosta stopped nine shots
for the Warriors.
Merrimack
held a 22-5 advantage in ground balls and a 14-9 lead in
draw controls.
Alderfer,
Richter, Strizki, Dunning and the rest of the Lady Eagles
are back in action Saturday, March 12 at noon at No. 6
Limestone College.
