LOCK HAVEN, Pa.
– The Lock Haven University (7-1, 3-1 PSAC) women’s
lacrosse team jumped out to an early lead and
defeated IUP (1-5, 0-4 PSAC) 17-8.
The Lady Eagles led
14-3 at halftime and out shot IUP 31-21 in the
contest.
Sophomore
Lindsay Rentel (Medford Lakes, N.J./Shawnee)
led the Haven with an eight-point performance. She
scored six goals and dished out two assists.
Senior
Diana Strizki (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon
Central), who was looking to become Lock
Haven’s all-time leading scorer netted three goals
and added four assists, which puts her just one goal
shy of tying the record.
Sophomore
Jenna Richter (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris
Central) and
Kim Penuel (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley)
tallied two goals apiece for the Haven. Richter
also added four assists.
Sophomore
Shannon Houck (Gilbertsville, Pa./Boyertown)
and freshmen Caitlin LaBonte (Vestal,
N.Y./Vestal), Caitlyn Watts (Willow Grove,
Pa./Archbishop Wood),
and
Samantha Stoyer (Lancaster, Pa./Manheim)
Township) all contributed to the Haven offense
with one goal apiece.
Both LaBonte and Watts
added an assist.
Both freshman
Kimberly Allan (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown)
and sophomore
Christie Dunning
(Ivyland,
Pa./Central Bucks East) saw time in between the
pipes. Allan played during the first half making
seven saves while Dunning made one save in the
second half.
The Lady Eagles will be
back in action on Saturday, April 2, when the play
host to East Stroudsburg University at 1 p.m. in
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Action.
