HAVEN, Pa.
– The No. 5 Lock
Haven University (14-4, 9-4 PSAC) women’s lacrosse
team dropped a close one to No. 8 Bloomsburg
University (12-5, 10-3 PSAC) 12-10 in double
overtime today (April 26) in Pennsylvania State
Athletic Conference Semi-Final action.
The Lady Eagles
jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with two goals by
senior
Diana Strizki (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon
Central). Strizki put the Haven on the board at
22:03
of the first half and scored again 21 seconds later.
The
Haven trailed 7-5 at halftime, but fought back early
in the second scoring four straight goals.
A
Bloomsburg goal by Megan Taylor with 11:25 left in
regulation tied the game.
Bloomsburg’s Sheila Zilinski netted the eventual
game-winner at 1:03 in the first overtime period.
Strizki finished with a team-high five goals and
also added on assist.
Sophomore
Jenna Richter (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris
Central)
compiled four points including one goal and three
assists.
Sophomore
Lindsay Rentel (Medford Lakes, N.J./Shawnee)
found the back
of the net twice, while freshmen
Caitlyn Watts (Willow
Grove, Pa./Archbishop Wood)
and
Caitlin LaBonte
(Vestal, N.Y./Vestal)
both netted a goal apiece.
Watts
also dished out a pair of assists. Sophomore
Stephanie Wood Long Valley, N.J./West Morris
Central
picked up one assist.
Freshman
Kimberly Allan (Pottstown, Pa./Pottstown) made ten
saves in net for the Lady Eagles. Allan stopped all
five Bloomsburg free position shot attempts in
regulation.
The
Lady Eagles wrap up their 2005 campaign with a 14-4
overall and 9-4 PSAC record. This is the winningest
season in Lock Haven history and fourth year head
coach Kristen Selvage moved into third all-time on
the career win list. Senior Diana Strizki had a
productive season becoming the Lady Eagles all-time
career leader in assists, goals, and total points.
