LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –
Battling back from an
early deficit, the Lock Haven University men’s
basketball team (2-18, 0-6 PSAC West) had three scorers
in double figures, but couldn’t combat California
University’s (13-7, 3-3 PSAC West) 44 trips to the
charity stripe in tonight’s 67-57 loss to the Vulcans at
Thomas Fieldhouse. Senior forward
Joe Walker
(Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) posted his fifth
double-double of the season with 11 points and a
game-high 11 rebounds.
Joining Walker in double-figures were senior
Eddie
Christiano (Coal Township, Pa./Lourdes Regional)
with a game-high 17 points and forward
Quentin Terry
(York, Pa./Central York) with 12 points.
LHU
couldn’t figure out the Cal U defense in the early
going, falling victim to a 22-5 run for the first 11:50
of the contest. The Bald Eagles would answer with an
immediate 16-4 run, bringing the score to 26-21 at the
3:19 mark on a free-throw by Walker.
The
Vulcans would travel to the charity stripe 35 times in
the second half, hitting 22 of them to stave off any
potential Bald Eagle rally. Lock Haven had the game
within 10 points for the final 4:30, but couldn’t grab
the lead.
Walker, Christiano, Terry and the rest of the Bald
Eagles are back in action Saturday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m.
when they travel to IUP. |
