LOCK
HAVEN, Pa. – Seniors
Joe Walker
(Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) and
Quentin Terry
(York, Pa./Central York) posted 24 and 17 points
respectively, but got little help, as the Lock Haven
University men’s basketball team (3-20, 1-8 PSAC West)
fell to Slippery Rock University (7-17, 5-4 PSAC West)
today at Thomas Fieldhouse. LHU kept it close, but
couldn’t overcome the Rock’s late-first-half surge.
The Bald
Eagles got off to a great start, monopolizing the lead for
the first eight minutes. The LHU lead reached its height
at the 14:15 mark, on the first of three treys by
sophomore
Michael Dye
(Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley),
giving the Bald Eagles a 15-8 advantage.
The Rock would
reply with a 19-4 run, led by nine first-half bench points. SRU’s
momentum would carry into the second half, as their lead would
reach 14 points at the 12:46 mark.
LHU would
gradually whittle away at the Rock’s lead, cutting it to five on a
three-point play by Terry, and as low as three with 26 seconds
left on a long-distance shot by Walker. LHU would be forced to
foul at that point, and SRU would hit its free-throws to finish
off the game.
The Rock’s Glenn
Reepmeyer outdid his 26-point 11-rebound performance at The Rock
Jan. 11 with 36 points and 12 rebounds today.
Walker has now
reached 20 points in four different contests this season, all
losses for the Haven.
Walker, Terry,
Dye and the rest of the Bald Eagles are back in action Wednesday,
Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. as they travel to Shippensburg University.
