LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –
The Lock Haven University men’s
basketball team (4-21, 2-9 PSAC West) led throughout,
including an amazing 30-8 run in the first 13 minutes of
the game, to down No. 21 Edinboro University (20-5, 7-3
PSAC West) 69-63 tonight at Thomas Fieldhouse. Four Bald
Eagles made it to double-figures in points, led by senior
Quentin Terry’s
(York, Pa./Central York) 21
points.
LHU controlled the
early going, and rode that advantage out the remainder of
the contest. The Bald Eagles shot 50 percent (13-of-26)
from the floor in the first half. Terry had half of those
30 points during that 13-minute span.
The Fighting Scots
gradually whittled away at the lead, getting it as close
as two points at 56-54 with 1:54 left in the game. LHU
would answer from the free-throw line, hitting 13-of-16
from the charity stripe in the final two minutes.
Rounding out the
quartet of Bald Eagles in double digits were
Joe Walker
(Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) with 17 points and
team-highs with five rebounds and five assists,
Eddie
Christiano (Coal Township, Pa./Lourdes Regional)
with 16 and
Ryan Carson (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) with 10
points and five boards, including six of those crucial
made free-throws.
While the Bald Eagles
only had a plus-three turnover margin, LHU made the most
of the extra chances with a 20-5 points-off-turnovers
advantage.
Terry, Walker,
Christiano, Carson and the rest of the Bald Eagles are
back in action Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. as they host
the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown. |
