STATE COLLEGE, Pa.—Powered
by 64 percent shooting, the Penn State University men’s
basketball team (5-2) made short work of Lock Haven
University (0-4) tonight, 94-46. The Bald Eagles turned
the ball over 14 times in the first half, helping the
Nittany Lions to a 49-25 halftime margin.
Senior
forward Quentin Terry (York,
Pa./Central York) led all Haven
scorers with eight points and fellow senior Joe Walker
(Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) tallied a
season-best five assists to go with six points. Sophomore
guard James Chappell
(Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area)
also added six points, with a team-best
five steals.
The teams battled for the
first five minutes, as LHU kept within four points of Penn
State until the 13:55 mark. PSU used height to
its advantage, out-rebounding
the Bald Eagles 39-20.
"This is an experience the
guys will not forget for the rest of their lives,” LHU
head coach John Wilson said. “A lot of them grew up
wanting to play at Penn State. I saw the kids get tougher
near the end, they tried to match their physicality. I
think there are a lot of things that we can carry over
from this game."
Terry, Walker, Chappell,
Wilson and the rest of the Bald Eagles will be back in
action Saturday, Dec. 4 at 3 p.m. as they host Cheyney
University. |
