KUTZTOWN, Pa. –
Senior forward Joe Walker
(Lock Haven,
Pa./Central
Mountain)
always seems to step it up in games against Kutztown
University. A year ago, Walker notched a then-career-high
26 points and 14 rebounds against the Golden Bears. This
season, he hit for a career-best 35 points to go with 15
boards, but it wasn’t enough, as the Lock Haven University men’s
basketball team (1-7) fell 77-71 tonight.
The game
featured just one lead change. The Bald Eagles jumped out
to an early lead, posting a six-point advantage on two
occasions and holding the lead until the 8:16 mark of the
first half.
The Golden
Bears went on a 13-2 run to get the advantage, eventually
stretching their lead to as high as 15 late in the second
half. The Bald Eagles would mount a few surges in the
second stanza, including cutting the lead to two at 69-67
on a Durell Moore (Wallingford,
Pa./Strath Haven) jumper with 1:29
left, but they would never get any closer.
Senior forward
Quentin Terry (York,
Pa./Central York) posted 20 points, including 16 in the second half, and was a big
factor in cutting that KU lead.
Walker was
12-of-14 from the free-throw line and 9-of-13 from the
floor.
Walker, Moore, Terry and the rest of the Bald Eagles are back in
action Wednesday, Dec. 29 at
8 p.m. at the
Porecco Cup in Erie, Pa. against host Gannon University. |
