ERIE, Pa.—The
Lock Haven University men’s basketball team (1-8) battled
early but ran out of firepower, eventually dropping their
eighth decision to host Gannon University (7-4) in day one
of the 31st Annual Porecco Cup. Senior guard
Eddie
Christiano (Coal
Township, Pa/Lourdes Regional)
led all Haven scorers with
12 points.
The
Bald Eagles stayed within five of Gannon, including taking
the lead on two occasions, for the first 12 minutes of the
contest. The Golden Knights finished the remainder of the
half on a 24-7 run that put the game at 46-23 at
intermission.
LHU
performed slightly better in the second half, losing that
stanza 46-35.
Sophomore guard
James Chappell
(Coatesville,
Pa./Coatesville Area)
joined Christiano in
double figures with 10 points off the bench, and senior
forward
Quentin Terry (York,
Pa./Central York)
chipped in with nine
points and team-highs at six rebounds, four assists and
two steals.
Christiano, Chappell, Terry and the rest of the Bald
Eagles will battle Saginaw Valley State University in the
consolation game tomorrow at 6 p.m. |
