Men's Basketball Slips in Porecco Cup Consolation

ERIE, Pa.—The Lock Haven University men’s basketball team (1-9) held just one lead in its 65-58 loss to Saginaw Valley State University (6-7) tonight in the Porecco Cup consolation game, hosted by Gannon University. Senior forward Joe Walker (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) led Bald Eagle scorers with 15 points, his sixth game this season with double-figure scoring.

LHU took a 9-8 lead on a three-pointer by Eddie Christiano (Coal Township, Pa/Lourdes Regional) just under three minutes into the game. The Bald Eagles would not see the lead again.

The Haven did their best to keep in the game defensively, recording a season-high 15 team steals, led by James Chappell (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area) with four. Seven individual players had takeaways.

Chappell would finish with 14 points off the bench and Christiano would chip in with 10.

Walker, Chappell, Christiano and the rest of the Bald Eagles will travel to Fairmont State College on Wednesday, Jan. 5 at 7:30 p.m.
