         Junior midfielder Joe Leap ( Long Valley , N.J./West Morris) took to the air and headed a cross from Tom Skrivanek (St. James, N.Y./Smithtown) through the defense for the game-winning goal in sudden victory, lifting Lock Haven over Millersville University (13-6, 2-6 PSAC) in what was its season finale for both teams. Lock Haven closes the year at 9-6-2 overall and 4-4 in the PSAC.
         The Marauders twice overcame a one-goal deficit to match the Bald Eagles in each half.  Andrew Meehan (Cheltenham/Cheltenham) scored first in the 21st minute off a pass from Adam Wolf (Telford/Souderton).  Millersville’s Jarad Overturf evened the game up at 1-1 before the close of the first half.
         Dustin Bixler (Mechanicsburg/RedLand) brought the lead back to one with a goal off a corner attempt taken by Joe Leap at 63:25 in the second half.  It was a Bald Eagle misplay that tied the game back up, giving Millersville the tying score on an own goal in the 81st minute of regulation.
        Leap’s goal came just 54 seconds into the overtime period to grasp the victory for the Bald Eagles.
       Senior goalie Paul Maguire ( Great Falls , Va. / St. Johns ) made five saves in all 90:54 played, while Millersville’s Ryan Schlegel totaled four saves in goal.

         The Bald Eagle soccer team improves its overall record to 8-6-2 on the season with today’s 3-0 shutout against Nyack College ( 11-8-1 ), assuring the program’s fifth-straight winning season.  Junior Joe Leap ( Long Valley , N.J./West Morris) assisted on the game-winner then scored a goal of his own to lead The Haven’s winning effort.
         The Lock Haven offense dominated much of the game, out-shooting Nyack by a margin of 24-5 and owning a 13-2 advantage in corner kick chances.  
         Bald Eagle Pat Long (Lock Haven/Central Mountain) tallied the first goal of the game, heading a ball off a free kick by Leap past the Nyack keeper 16 minutes into the game.   LHU would tack on one more goal before the close of the first half, as Graham Boyle ( Paisley , Scotland / Paisley ) sent a long pass ahead to Leap, who then rocketed the ball across the front of the goal to the far corner before Nyack’s Matthew Andre could stop it.  
         The Haven went on the offensively quickly in the second half, taking 16 shots over the next 45 minutes.  Andre came up big for Nyack, stopping nine of those shots.  One did get by, however, a hard driven shot off the foot of Andre Meier (
Twistetal , Germany / Paderborn Univ. ) at the 66:20 mark.  The ball was bounced around in the 18-yard box then was cleared, but Meier took possession then sent the ball in from the edge for the 3-0 Haven lead. 
         Lock Haven’s Matt Deming (
Gibsonia , Pa. /Pine Richland ) played the first half, stopping all three Nyack shots on goal.  Paul Maguire ( Great Falls , Va. / St. Johns ) was in goal during the second half, making one save.  Nyack’s Andre posted a total of 12 stops.

          The Bald Eagle soccer team fell to 3-4 in the PSAC with today’s 3-1 loss against California University (11-5-3 , 5-2 PSAC).  Lock Haven is now 7-6-2 overall on the season.
          Lock Haven’s Andrew Mason (Morrisville/Pennsbury) headed in a ball off a corner kick taken by Graham Boyle (
Paisley, Scotland/Paisley) in the 43rd minute to give the Bald Eagles the 1-0 halftime advantage. 
         California would control the second half, however, scoring three goals within a 15 minute span including two by Vitor Brito to take the win.  Pete Kariotis scored first 14 minutes into the second half off a cross by Brito.  Brito pocketed the game-winning score in the 61st minute off an assist from Kariotis, then topped off the game’s scoring with a goal at 74:00 .
         Haven goalie Matt Deming (
Gibsonia, Pa./Pine Richland) collected 12 saves in the effort, while California’s C.J. Cameron totaled three saves.

         The Bald Eagle soccer team suffered a 3-2 loss on the road at Bloomsburg University (9-6-1, 4-2-0 PSAC) this afternoon. It is the fifth one-goal loss for Lock Haven this season, dropping them to 7-5-2 overall and even at 3-3 in the PSAC.
         Bloomsburg jumped out to a 3-0 lead, scoring one in the first half and another two just seven minutes into the second half.  The Haven got off 21 shots over the 90-minute span, but 12 saves by Huskies keeper Kyle Grim held the Bald Eagles in check until late in the second half.  David Russell (Weatherly, Pa./Weatherly) scored his 10th goal of the season in the 68th minute of the game, finding the back of the net after a feed from Brad Potasiewicz (Fleetwood/Mitchell College).  Three minutes later, The Haven’s Andrew Meehan (Cheltenham/Cheltenham) pocketed the unassisted tally to bring LHU within one goal, 3-2.  Despite several more attempts at the tie, LHU came up empty handed and was forced to walk away with the 3-2 loss.
         Haven goalie Matt Deming (
Gibsonia, Pa./Pine Richland) had a total of six saves in goal over the game, while Bloomsburg’s Kyle Grim posted 12 saves.

        Billy Dovas (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettown) scored a hat-trick to lift the Bald Eagles of Lock Haven University ( 7-4-2 , 3-2 PSAC) over Kutztown University (7-6-3, 3-3 PSAC) in a PSAC contest this afternoon.

        Lock Haven out shot the Golden Bears 17 to 12, but Kutztown had the advantage with six corners to LHU’s three.  Freshman David Russell (Weatherly, Pa./Weatherly) opened up the scoring with a header off a long assist from Michael Skeggs (Blacktown, Australia/Evans).  Billy Dovas found the back of the net for the first in the opening stanza, then added two more to the board in the second half, one off a pass from Ian Grasso (Allentown, Pa./Parkland).  Closing the scoring for the Haven was Graham Boyle (Paisley,Scotland/Paisley) in the final 2 minutes of the game.  Scoring for the Golden Bears were Jack Pocorobba and John Lapore (2).

        In goal for the Haven was Matt Deming (Gibsonia,Pa./Pine Richland) who tallied fours saves and allowed three goals.  KU’s Jason Sherman gathered four saves and five goals against in the effort.

        The Bald Eagles let in a goal with 1:30 remaining, surrendering a 2-1 final to the visitors from Gannon University ( 10-5-0 ) this afternoon on McCollum Field.  The outcome of today’s non-conference game drops Lock Haven to 6-4-2 overall.
       The Haven owned a 20-11 advantage in shots, including a 10-4 second-half ratio, and an 8-1 lead in corner kick opportunities but was unable to find the back of the net on any occasion. Lock Haven received a break early in the game from a skirmish in front of the net, as a shot by Bill Dovas (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) banged off the cross bar. The rebound was redirected by Ian Grasso (Allentown/Parkland) and when Gannon defender went to stop that ball from crossing into goal he instead knocked it further back for the own goal and the 1-0 LHU lead at 9:56.  
      Gannon tied up the match in the 25th minute, Parbai Bowen crossing left to Pablo Graham who rocketed a hard shot to the lower right corner of the goal.  The Haven poured on the offensive pressure in the second half, but Gannon keeper Matt Angelo rose to the challenge and stopped all five on-target shots.  As the clock continued to wind down, Gannon was awarded a free kick along the sideline to the left corner of the 18-yard box.  Khashayar Azizollahi volleyed the ball into the box, and before LHU’s defense could reach the kick, Sam Kingston got his foot on it and sent it to the back of the net for the game-winning score at 88:30.
      Lock Haven’s Matt Deming Matt Deming ( Gibsonia , Pa. /Pine Richland ) had five saves on the game, while Gannon’s Angelo totaled eight saves and the win.

           Lock Haven University was defeated 1-0 by nationally ranked #10 East Stroudsburg University in today’s action. East Stroudsburg ’s Jorge Chapoy scored the only goal 24:22 into the first half off a cross by Wesley Gayle. The momentum of the game changed sides numerous times with ESU barely out shooting the Haven, 9-8.  
        Lock Haven was led by senior Bill Dovas (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) who had three shots, while freshman Patrick Long (Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) put up two shots of his own. Fellow freshman Matt Deming ( Gibsonia , Pa. /Pine Richland ) recorded four saves at goal.

           David Russell’s (Weatherly, Pa./Weatherly) goal in the 69th minute lifted the Lock Haven University men’s soccer team over the Red Raiders of Shippensburg University ( 7-5-0 , 1-2 PSAC) this afternoon, 1-0, for the squad’s second PSAC victory of the season.  
          Scoring the winning goal of the game for The Haven was freshman forward David Russell at the 68:38 mark.  LHU’s Brad Potasiewicz (Fleetwood/Mitchell College) got a shot off from 10 yards out, but the ball caught the right post and bounced back into play, where Russell capitalized with the boot to the back of the net. 
          The Red Raiders missed a key scoring opportunity in the 66th minute of the game when Shippensburg’s Jake Deininger’s direct kick from just outside the 18 yard box went high.      
          The Bald Eagles defense was able to fend off the Red Raiders’ 11 corner kick opportunities, while The Haven registered two corners.  LHU marginally out-shot Shippensburg, 12-10.  In goal for the Bald Eagles was Matt Deming ( Gibsonia , Pa. /Pine Richland ) who tallied seven saves in his second shutout. Shippensburg’s Bob McComsey recorded six saves, with one goal allowed in his 90 minutes of play.

           The Bald Eagle soccer team pocketed a decisive 4-1 victory over Felician College ( 3-3-2 ) this afternoon on McCollum Field, bringing its overall mark to 5-2-2 on the season.  Freshman forward David Russell (Weatherly/Weatherly) scored two goals, including the deciding tally, and added one assist to pace Lock Haven to victory.
           The Golden Falcons of Felician had the only first half goal, as Runar Jonsson rocketed a ball from 20 yards out that bounced into the goal off an attempted deflection by LHU’s Matt Deming’s (Gibsonia/Pine Richland ).  
           The Haven jumped out quickly in the second half, as Russell scored the equalizer in the 52nd minute off an assist from Andrew Meehan (Cheltenham/Cheltenham).  Russell struck once more, netting the go-ahead goal at 66:46 on a header off a cross by David Young (Hellertown/Saucon Valley).   
          Lock Haven’s Andrew Mason (Morrisville/Pennsbury) recorded an unassisted goal after tracking a rebounded ball following a corner attempt in the 72nd minute to bring the score to 3-1 in favor of the Bald Eagles.  Chris Spinks ( Dunfermline , Scotland / Telford ) wrapped up Haven scoring, shooting the ball to the lower right corner off a pass from Russell in front of the goal. 
         Keeper Matt Deming posted five saves in the win.  Felician’s John Butler posted five saves.

       The Lock Haven men’s soccer team bounced back after last evening’s one-goal loss to Judson with a 2-0 shutout over Taylor University this morning in the second day of the Geneva Tournament in Beaver Falls , Pa.   The Bald Eagles improve to 4-2-2 on the year.
      A scoreless tie until far into the second half, the Haven’s John Emig (Lancaster/JPMcCaskey) broke the silence in the 72nd minute with his first goal of the season to put LHU ahead, 1-0.  Andrew Meehan (Cheltenham/Cheltenham) had crossed to Emig, assisting on the goal.  Just eight minutes later, the Bald Eagles’ David Russell (Weatherly/Weatherly) notched his fourth goal of the year off an assist from Graham Boyle ( Paisley , Scotland / Paisley ) to give LHU the two-goal cushion.
     Lock Haven’s Brandon Stroup (Troy/Troy) added his second shutout in the victory, stopping two Taylor shots on goal in the process.  Taylor ’s John Hornaday prevented a total of eight Haven shots on goal.

          The Lock Haven men’s soccer team dropped a one-goal decision, 1-0, to #21 (NAIA) Judson College (8-2) on the road in day one of the Geneva Tournament in Beaver Falls , Pa.   The Bald Eagles are now 3-2-2 on the season.
         The Haven out-shot Judson, 11-8, but a penalty kick taken by Judson’s Diego Dias got past Haven goalie Matt Deming (Gibsonia/Pine Richland ) in the game’s 33rd minute to give Judson the lead and eventual victory.  Deming posted four saves in goal over the 90 minute stretch, while Judson’s Aron Hyde stopped eight of 11 LHU scoring chances.

       The Lock Haven men’s soccer team recorded its second shutout victory of the season in today’s 3-0 victory over Slippery Rock University (1-6-1 , 0-1 PSAC) on LHU’s Foundation Field.  Senior forward Bill Dovas (Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) tallied his second hat trick of the year, paving way for the win with all three Haven goals.
      A slow start resulted in a scoreless tie at the half, with LHU getting off nine shots while Slippery Rock had made five. Dovas hit paydirt for the first time just over ten minutes into the second half, scoring off a rebounded ball to give LHU the 1-0 lead.  His second came at 69:57, as Andrew Mason (Morrisville/Pennsbury) crossed the ball to a breaking Dovas, who found the back of the net again for the 2-0 Haven lead.  Just 16 seconds later, Dovas again scored on a break-away, this time off a pass from Joe Leap (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris).  
     LHU goalie Matt Deming (Gibsonia/Pine Richland) played all 90 minutes and posted four saves, while Slippery Rock’s Jeremy Miceli logged 10 saves and Brett Saganiec had two saves.

         The Bald Eagles and No. 23-ranked Dowling College battled to a 1-1 overtime tie this afternoon in Oakdale , N.Y.    Lock Haven is now 2-1-2 on the season, while Dowling logs its second-straight tie and moves to 2-1-3 for the year.
         Intense action unfolded as the Haven took a one-goal lead in the first half off David Russell’s (Weatherly/Weatherly) fourth goal of the season assisted by Andre Meier (Twistetal, Germany (Paderborn University).  Dowling evened things out with a second-half score by Jose Vittorato to force the pair of overtimes. 
         Both offenses earned scoring opportunities with a combined 32 shots and 19 shots on goal, but keepers Matt Deming (Gibsonia/Pine Richland ) of Lock Haven and Dowling’s Morten Larsen denied any further goals from crossing into the back of the net.  Deming posted eight saves on the game, while Larsen totaled nine saves.        

Up Next:  The Bald Eagles are scheduled to make their home debut on Sat., Sept. 20, at 12 p.m. against Slippery Rock University.

         The Bald Eagle soccer team lost by a 2-1 final to West Chester University in its PSAC opener today on the road in West Chester , Pa.   Lock Haven falls to 2-1-1 on the season and 0-1 in the PSAC.
          The Rams took the 1-0 lead by the close of the first half off a goal in the ninth minute by Jon McGlone. The Haven battled back and freshman forward David Russell (Weatherly/Weatherly) netted his third goal of the year in the 46th minute of action off an assist from Andrew Mason (Morrisville/Pennsbury) to knot things at one goal apiece.  
          The game-deciding score came at 68:10, when WCU’s Ryan Sekkes found the back of the net off a pass from Bryan Enders to put the Rams back out into the lead, 2-1.
          In goal, LHU’s Brandon Stroup (Troy/Troy) posted three saves while West Chester ’s Andrew Shafer also had three.

            The Lock Haven men’s soccer team and the NYIT Bears played to a 2-2 draw this afternoon in Old Westbury, N.Y., bringing the Bald Eagles’ overall record to 2-0-1.  NYIT moves to 1-1-2 overall.
             The Bears opened scoring first, as Christian Caines beat Haven keeper Paul Maguire (Great Falls, Va./St. Johns) in the upper left corner of the goal in the 28th minute.  The Haven’s Andrew Meehan (Cheltenham/Cheltenham) netted the equalizer early in the second half, blasting one past the NYIT keeper at 48:41 to bring the score to 1-1.  
             Joe Leap (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris) gave Lock Haven the lead in the 63rd minute off a pass from Bill Dovas (Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack), but it was short lived as the Bear’s Alexander Krasij matched the goal with one for the home team off a goalie deflection 17 minutes later. 
            With neither team able to find the back of the net in the remaining minutes of regulation or the two periods of overtime, the game was declared a 2-2 tie. 
            In goal, LHU’s Paul Maguire posted four saves, while NYIT’s Matt Burke had seven on the game.

Up Next:  The Bald Eagles will next travel to West Chester University to open up PSAC action on Sat., Sept. 13, at 3:30 p.m.

         The Lock Haven men’s soccer team improves to 2-0 in the early season after a 4-1 victory over Holy Family College in the second day of the Bloomsburg Tournament.  
         The Haven’s Bill Dovas (
Hackensack , N.J./Hackensack) scored his fourth goal of the season in the 12th minute of the game to open scoring, but Holy Family’s Aureleo Nestico scored the equalizer in the 35th minute.  Two quick Bald Eagle goals at the close of the first half from Graham Boyle ( Paisley , Scotland / Paisley ) and John Schumann (Warrington/Central Buck East) ended the tie and gave LHU the two-goal lead after one period.  Freshman David Russell (Weatherly HS) added a goal in the second half to bring the final margin to 4-1 in favor of The Haven.

        The Bald Eagles rode a three-goal effort by senior forward Bill Dovas ( Hackensack , N.J./Hackensack) to shutout the University of the District of Columbia , 4-0, in action at the Bloomsburg Tournament this afternoon.
        Rookie David Russell (Weatherly HS) netted the game’s first score in the fifth minute off a corner to jump-start the Haven offense.  Dovas headed the ball through the defense to notch his first of three goals in the seventh minute, then added the remaining pair before the close of the first half to give LHU the four-goal lead and the eventual victory.
        In goal, freshman keeper Brandon Stroup (Troy/Troy) went the distance to pick up his first collegiate shutout, totaling four saves in the venture.
