The Bald Eagles let in a goal with
1:30
remaining, surrendering a 2-1 final to the
visitors from
Gannon
University
(
10-5-0
) this afternoon on McCollum Field. The
outcome of today’s non-conference game drops
Lock Haven to
6-4-2
overall.
The Haven
owned a 20-11 advantage in shots, including a 10-4
second-half ratio, and an 8-1 lead in corner kick
opportunities but was unable to find the back of
the net on any occasion. Lock Haven received a
break early in the game from a skirmish in front
of the net, as a shot by Bill Dovas
(Hackettstown, N.J./Hackettstown) banged off
the cross bar. The rebound was redirected by Ian
Grasso (Allentown/Parkland) and when Gannon
defender went to stop that ball from crossing into
goal he instead knocked it further back for the
own goal and the 1-0 LHU lead at 9:56.
Gannon tied up the
match in the 25th minute, Parbai Bowen crossing
left to Pablo Graham who rocketed a hard shot to
the lower right corner of the goal. The
Haven poured on the offensive pressure in the
second half, but Gannon keeper Matt Angelo rose to
the challenge and stopped all five on-target
shots. As the clock continued to wind down,
Gannon was awarded a free kick along the sideline
to the left corner of the 18-yard box.
Khashayar Azizollahi volleyed the ball into the
box, and before LHU’s defense could reach the
kick, Sam Kingston got his foot on it and sent it
to the back of the net for the game-winning score
at 88:30.
Lock Haven’s Matt
