Former Assistant Soccer Coach Davy Named to UMass Coaching Squad

LOCK HAVEN, Pa –   Lock Haven University assistant soccer coach Jon Davy was recently named assistant soccer coach at Division I University of Massachusetts by head coach Sam Koch.  Davey, who was named an NSCAA All-Region and First Team All-PSAC forward in 2000, has been an assistant coach for the Bald Eagles the past two years.

While playing midfield and forward on the Haven soccer squad from 1998-2002, the Grimsby, England native collected 12 goals and 11 assists, and was a PSAC-Scholar Athlete.  He also obtained an undergraduate degree in recreation management.

“(LHU head coach) Doug Moore allowed me to be his right hand man here, getting experience and training, recruiting and game-day operations,” Davy said.  “The main reason I came back was to work with Doug.  His experience in the game helped teach me what it takes to be successful as a coach.”

Davey also acquired a master of liberal arts degree and is currently working towards a master of education from LHU.  His accomplishments here at LHU helped Koch choose Davy for the position.

“We’re very excited about having Davy join us,” commented Koch.  “He’s an outstanding addition to the team.  We’re very impressed with his passion and enthusiasm and we can’t wait to have him come and start with us.”
