(Lock Haven, Pa.) - Two goals by David Russell (Weatherly/Weatherly) helped lift the Bald Eagles to a 3-0 shutout victory over CW Post this afternoon, also securing the title of LHU Fall Soccer Classic champion by virtue of a 1-0-1 record on the weekend.  The Haven is now 4-2-1 overall, while CW Post falls to 2-3-1 in the loss.
Lock Haven took a 1-0 lead on a goal by David Russell in the 30th minute. Taking a cross from David Johnson (Lebanon/Cedar Crest), Russell booted the ball into the right side of the goal from 13 yards out for the home-team advantage.
Just into the second half, Michael Skeggs (Blacktown, Australia/Evans) played a rebound off the keeper’s hands to Andrew Meehan (Cheltenham/Cheltenham), who knocked it past for the 2-0 lead.  Russell tallied his second of the game in the 60th minute, receiving the right cross from Skeggs and putting it into the back of the net.
CW Post threatened near the end of the half, having two balls clang off the cross bar.
Haven keeper Chad Feerrar (Lock Haven/Central Mountain) played all 90 minutes, making five saves and picking up his first collegiate shutout. CW Post’s Rocco Morelli came up with one official save over the span of the contest.
Lock Haven will next travel to Slippery Rock University on Sat., Sept. 18, for a 3 p.m. contest.

In the earlier contest, Bloomsburg defeated NYIT by a final score of 2-0. A scoreless first half gave way to a second half controlled by the Huskies of Bloomsburg. In the 52nd minute, Derek Smith took control of a loose ball in front of the goal and booted it home for the 1-0 lead. Just two minutes later, Greg Pompei netted the Huskies’ second goal off an assist from Chris Tomarelli, upping the advantage to 2-0.  Bloomsburg’s record in the tournament improved to 1-1 while NYIT finished at 0-1-1.  Bloomsburg/NYIT statistics
