LOCK
HAVEN, Pa. –
The cards fell into place for the No. 15 Lock Haven
University men’s soccer team (13-4-3, 5-2-1 PSAC) today as
they beat Millersville University (9-7-4, 5-2-1 PSAC) for
the second time in five days, sprinting into the
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Tournament
Championship game. Today’s 2-0 win, combined with
California University’s (Pa.) 3-1 loss against West
Chester University means the Bald Eagles will host the
PSAC championship on Saturday against WCU.
The Bald Eagles’ leading
scorer came up big once again, as freshman striker
Ashley Rosindale (Bradford,
England/Beckfoot
School) hit his 11th goal of the season with
38:09 left in the first half. The goal came off a corner
kick, as Andrew Meehan’s (Cheltenham,
Pa./Cheltenham) entry was headed by Zach Gibbon
(Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central), to Rosindale who
headed it in for the game-winner.
The second goal came under
nine minutes into the second half, in a situation favoring
a rugby game instead of a soccer match. On a breakaway
pass, goalkeeper Ryan Schlegel and David Russell
(Weatherly, Pa./Weatherly) collided, leaving Schlegel
prone on the ground. The ball popped loose, giving
sophomore Chris Spinks (Dunfermline,
Scotland
(Queen Anne/Telford Clg) and empty net he couldn’t pass
up.
Freshman Chad Feerrar
(Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) earned his fourth
shutout of the season, and his second against
Millersville. Schlegel made seven saves in the loss.
Rosindale, Meehan, Gibbon, Russell, Spinks and the rest of
the Bald Eagles are back in as they host West Chester on
Saturday, Nov. 6 at 1 p.m. in the PSAC Tournament final. |
