OAKDALE, N.Y. – Facing this
squad for the third time in the last two years, the Lock Haven University
men’s soccer team (2-1) had a near-miss 3-2 loss to No. 3 Dowling College
(1-0-2) today (Sept. 4).
Dowling wasted little time ending the Bald Eagles’ shutout
season, scoring on a header just 52 seconds into the contest. LHU would
answer just under two minutes later.
Junior Patrick Long
(Lock Haven, Pa./Central Mountain) squeaked a free kick past the Golden
Lion defense for his first goal of the season.
Sophomore Ashley
Rosindale (Bradford, England/Beckfoot School) nearly gave the Bald
Eagles the advantage later in the quarter, knocking a loose ball off the
crossbar and the Dowling defense cleared it out.
The Lions added two more strikes for the 3-1 lead going into
the half.
A fired-up LHU squad came out firing in the second half, with
freshman Scott M. Patrick
(Harrisburg, Pa./Lower Dauphin) adding the first goal of his career. The
Bald Eagles were unable to get that final goal to equal the game back out,
falling by the eventual 3-2 margin.
Sophomore
Chad Feerrar (Lock Haven,
Pa./Central Mountain) and freshman
William Trimble III (Lancaster,
Pa./Manheim Township) split time in goal, with Feerrar picking up his
first loss of the season.
Long, Rosindale, Feerrar, Trimble and the rest of the Bald
Eagles are back in action Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 4 p.m. |
